Why do you hate Christmas? Are you The Grinch?

Ok, listen here. I'm no Grinch. & I don't exactly HATE Christmas, I just don't like it very much. I hate the "BUY BUY BUY" attitude of the comercialised Christmas. I hate those wanky non traditionally coloured Christmas Trees that are pink & purple instead of red & green. I hate the tacky things that are EVERYWHERE at Christmas.
But I love spending time with family and close friends & although its going to be harder this year, so far so good.
I can only keep tolerating Christmas because the rest of the world is in love with it.

Recent scribblings

So I know I haven't done anything in ages. I'm sorry, ok? Uni's been busy, I hated my life for a while... Its hard to draw when you spend 3 days at a time not getting out of bed.
But anyway, here's some stuff I've done recently.

Its been a while.

I AM SO SORRY. I spent my holidays in bed. I've been drawing, uploads when I get to a scanner x

Tuesday, June 23, 2009

Excuses, Excuses.

I'm drawing things, I swear. I just seem to run out of steam once I've inked them. Colour doesn't really seem to interest me at the moment. I have like, 3 comics, waiting to be coloured on my computer. I just really don't want to do it just now.
The end.

Welcome

Hey everyone, as you may have noticed, I've decided to move the blog to a different address, mainly 'cause Mum found it, but also because the new address is more logical! Hoorah!

Now that the holidays are here, this could go one of two ways.
ONE: I could draw every day and the site will be awesome
TWO: I won't draw a thing and party instead, and the site will be dead til Uni goes back and I start hating lectures all over again.

I'll let you know when I know.

Mongolian Death Vapours

Just so everyone knows, I've been quite ill with what The Journalist calls Mongolian Death Vapours. Ratty and everyone call it the swiney swiney pig flu, and I call it the regular flu.
Also, I have exams next week, so I've been "preparing" for "exams" over the past few days, and I will be preparing for exams for the next little while.
I have actually been drawing, but not scanning and colouring, so I'm afraid you'll have to wait a bit longer for them to be uploaded.
Catch you all in a few weeks

A Softer World

I like this cross genre of comic/photography. Its sweet, funny, and sometimes nonsensical. And I enjoy crap like this.

What're you doing?

I'm going to bed, what does it look like?
Do you think that's such a good idea?
Well, no not really. I do have that huge mother fucker of an assignment due tomorrow that I haven't finished.
So why are you going to bed?
'Cause I'll probably be able to finish it off tomorrow. No big deal. And plus, I'm fucking tired, ok?
What, after only writing 200 our of the 1200 words required? I don't think so.
Oh fuck off. Its due at like, 4:30pm. That's plenty of time to get it all done. And I've already written up three full refrences out of the minimum 5 required.
Hum, well I suppose it is your funeral fucktard.
Well fuck you too.

Lets talk comics.

For those of you who don't know, I love web comics. So, here's my top 5. Get readin'.

5. Achewood by Chris Onstad

Achewood is about Chris Onstad's wife's childhood toys. Characters to look out for: Roast Beef, Tedor, Phillipe and Ray.
Onstad's simple black and white comics would have usually turned me off, but the stories are just too funny and well rounded to pass up.

4. Questionable Content by Jeph Jacques

Questionable Content: an alternate universe where all indie kids talk about how they're feeling constantly, your upstairs neighbour is a hyperchondriac and you computer is actually a little robot that likes porn alot. Jaques has come a long way with his dawings since the start of the comic in 2003, and the stories are nicer, longer, and a bit more realistic. All in all, a fun read.
3.Friendly Hostility by K. Sandra Fuhr

The comic that got me into web comics. Drawn by the illusive K. Sandra Fuhr, this delightful yarn about a gay couple, their families and friends is a lovely read. While sometimes having the feel of a fan girl pairing up her favourite same sex characters, the art and stories make up for all Fuhr's endless gay coupling. She draws like no one else, and there is constantly something new happening with the characters. Due to end in June.

2. OverCompensating by Jeffrey Rowland

A Real Life story about a Real Life Dude, the adventures of Jeffery Rowland, writer and creator of Wigu are a hilarious journey to read. Along with Baby, Joanna (a dead cat), Weedmaster P, Tallahassee, Mashley (his sister), The Englishman (better known as Mr. John Allison) and many many more comic artists, fictional characters and religious icons, his exploits are well worth the read.
1. ScaryGoRound by John Allison

Its really no surprise that ScaryGoRound comes in as my number one. John Allison's style is so unique and visually pleasing, his stories are off the wall, yet make so much sence, there are devil bears, evil easter bunnies, goblins, ghosts and the underworld; hot chicks, beatniks, gothic loltias; romance, action, horror, and everything else you could think of. ScaryGoRound is a rare gem in the often hard-to-navigate web comic underbelly.

What I've Learnt from the Bill & Ted Movies

  • If they're wearing sunglasses, they're your bad evil robot dopplegangers from the future.
  • If you from the future shows up, it proves that guy's telling the tuth about flying through history to pass your class with an A+ to save the world.
  • If you from the future shows up for a second time, they're the bad evil robot doppleganers from the future.
  • The phrase "I got a full on robot chubby" is fucking disturbing.
  • All you have to do to get a smoking hot girlfriend is go to the 16th century, and they'll pretty much throw themselves at you.
  • Don't fuck with king Henry.
  • Billy the Kid, Socrates, Frued and Joan of Arc can all be BFFs if you pick them up in your time machine that looks like a phone box.
  • If they clink when you throw shit at them, they are your bad, evil robat dopplegangers from the future.
  • If you're dead, all you have to do is wedgie Death, and fuckin' bail. Then you can save the day. Even though you're dead.

Its An Easter Story.

So, party at my place the other night. Was fully rad and the like.

One, Two, Three O'Clock, Tea O'Clock Rock

With the cold comes tea season, and it really is getting chilly. So, it being Tea Season and all, here's the top 5 teas YOU should be drinking this tea season.

5. Twining's Earl Grey (loose leaf/bag)

Simple, yet oh so refreshing. Twinings Earl Grey can't be beat for any occasion. Cheap too. While Earl Grey is technically an all year round tea, it really does taste best in the cooler months.

4. T2's Chai (loose leaf)

Warm, hearty and spicy, what else do you want from a winter tea? T2's recipe is particuarly lovely, with its whole cardimon pods and cloves, it isn't too overpowering on the cinnimon. Nice brewed with milk for a chilly afternoon.

3. T-Licious's Choc Chip Chai (loose leaf)

Brewed 1/3 water, 2/3 milk, this delicious treat is worth the fuss. Spicy and smooth, surprisingly creamy, this tea is lovely any time of the day or night, but especially when curling up on the couch with a cosy blanket and a good movie.

2. The Tea Centre's Tea For Sunday (loose leaf)

Tea for Sunday is a subtle tea and as the name suggests, perfect for Sundays! The vanilla pieces add a smoothness to the simple tea, and is very enjoyable with your favourite biscut treat.

1. T2's French Earl Grey

The most delicate, sweet, fruity taste a tea can have. Lovely strong or weak, sweetened or unsweetened, milk or no. This tea earns it's number 1 position by being versatile, yet delicious when brewed any way possible.

up at 1am again

So I'm illustrating for this 'zine that a few people at uni are putting together. My first task is "sexy star signs".
These are really rough, but I'm happy with the ideas for gemini, leo and taurus.
